In 2005, Academy Award–winning actress Angelina Jolie adopted Zahara Marley Jolie from an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Zahara was around six months old at the time, and the adoption was finalized later that year. She became one of Jolie’s six children, whom she shares with former partner Brad Pitt.

While much of Zahara’s childhood was kept relatively private, she has occasionally appeared alongside her mother at film premieres, red carpet events, and humanitarian missions — offering glimpses of their close relationship.

Stepping Into Her Own Path

As she matured, Zahara began shaping her own identity beyond the public image of a celebrity family. In 2022, she enrolled at Spelman College, a prestigious historically Black women’s college in Atlanta. Jolie publicly expressed pride in her daughter’s academic milestone, highlighting the importance of education and self-determination.

Zahara has also joined her mother at advocacy events focused on education and women’s rights. While influenced by Jolie’s long-standing humanitarian work, she appears to be defining her own interests and voice.

Her journey reflects a broader theme: growing up in the spotlight does not prevent someone from forging an independent future.
