Former Alabama defensive lineman Luther Davis has been accused of orchestrating a massive $20 million fraud scheme out of Atlanta — allegedly impersonating NFL players to secure high-value loans.

According to The Guardian, authorities claim Davis used fake identities and forged documents, even going as far as wearing wigs and disguises to resemble professional athletes.

One of the most striking allegations involves Michael Penix Jr., the Atlanta Falcons quarterback. Investigators say Davis posed as Penix in an attempt to secure a $3.3 million promissory note from All-Pro Capital.

In that instance, Davis allegedly appeared in person wearing a “durag-style head covering” and presented a fake Florida driver’s license featuring a photo sourced online.

The case highlights an unusually elaborate scheme, with authorities pointing to calculated impersonation tactics aimed at exploiting the financial credibility of NFL players.
