A Honduran TikTok creator has just made an astonishing jump from social-media fame to professional football.

In July 2026, CD Choloma officially announced Saúl Fox, better known online as “La More,” as a new goalkeeper for the club’s 2026 Apertura campaign. The announcement immediately went viral because millions of people know Fox primarily for his humorous football-related content rather than traditional professional football.

But there is a twist: Fox didn’t suddenly decide to become a footballer after becoming famous online. He says he started playing at around 11 years old, went through youth football, and was connected with the DC United academy and other developmental programs. He later continued playing while building his enormous social-media following.

Now, at 30 years old, he has an opportunity that many young footballers spend their entire lives chasing—a place in a top-flight squad.

The signing has divided opinion in Honduras. Some critics argue that professional football should prioritize players who have spent years developing within the traditional system. Others see Fox’s arrival as an innovative way to combine sport, entertainment, and social media, potentially bringing thousands of new viewers to the club.

Fox himself insists the move isn’t simply a publicity stunt. He says he has a genuine football background and that his social-media career and football career will remain separate.

The strangest part? He has joked that he’d prefer his first appearance to come late in a match when Choloma is already comfortably ahead.
