Leonor, Princess of Asturias has officially completed her three-year military training program, marking one of the most significant milestones in her preparation to one day become Queen of Spain. As the eldest daughter of Felipe VI, Leonor is first in line to the Spanish throne and is expected to assume the constitutional role of Commander-in-Chief of the Spanish Armed Forces when she eventually succeeds her father. The comprehensive military education follows a long-standing tradition for Spain’s future monarchs, emphasizing leadership, national service, and a close relationship with the country’s armed forces.

Her training began in 2023 at the General Military Academy, where she underwent intensive Army instruction alongside fellow cadets. Rather than receiving a symbolic education, Princess Leonor participated in the same demanding schedule as other officer candidates, including physical training, field exercises, military tactics, weapons instruction, and leadership development designed to prepare future officers for service.

After completing her Army training, Leonor moved to the Naval Military Academy, where she trained with the Spanish Navy. One of the highlights of this stage was an extended voyage aboard the historic Juan Sebastián de Elcano, a sailing vessel that has trained generations of Spanish naval officers. The expedition took her across the Atlantic and to several international ports, giving her firsthand experience of life at sea while representing Spain abroad.

The final phase took place at the General Air and Space Academy, where she trained with the Spanish Air and Space Force, completing instruction in aviation, aerospace operations, military leadership, and modern defense systems.
